Parents with Autistic children have to spend much of their time and attention on taking care of their children; their own health would not be taken any place on their priority list. For this reason, APF organised a complimentary yoga class for a group of mothers to improve their health conditions. The class began with breathing exercises to quiet our mind and to reduce stress as well.
The yoga instructor then gave each person a tennis ball for placing at the back of our knees. By pressing the tennis ball with our own body weight, the taut muscles were soothed. Sitting with crossed legs and rounded back can cause damages to our neck, back and waist. The instructor reminded the parents to break these bad habits and also taught us some stretching exercises to eliminate the damages.
“I have no time to work out alone with my kid. This yoga class is my debut. The Instructor asked us to raise out one health issue and then she showed us several relaxing poses to meet our needs. I look forward to joining the next lesson,” Mrs. Chan said.
