Dress Blue Day

What is World Autism Awareness Day?

The United Nations General Assembly unanimously declared 2 April as World Autism Awareness Day (A/RES/62/139) to highlight the need to help improve the quality of life of children and adults, who are affected by autism, so they can lead full and meaningful lives.

This United Nations resolution is one of only three official disease-specific United Nations Days and will bring the world's attention to autism, a pervasive disorder that affects tens of millions. The World Autism Awareness Day resolution encourages all Member States to take measures to raise awareness about autism throughout society and to encourage early diagnosis and early intervention. It further expresses deep concern at the high prevalence rate of autism among children in all regions of the world and the consequent developmental challenges.

Light It Up Blue for Autism Awareness

Every April, people from around the globe join together in support of Autism Awareness Month by lighting up their communities and wearing blue! And each year on April 2, iconic buildings across the world turn their lights blue to promote autism awareness.

APF's Dress Blue Day

In support of this global initiative, Autism Partnership Foundation (APF) helps raising awareness and funds by asking people to Dress Blue to help us support all ages living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families in Hong Kong and Asia.

Each year, APF works together with our member organizations to conduct campaigns to raise awareness of autism and the rights of people with autism in Hong Kong.

The Dress Blue Day campaign aims at :

  1.  Generate awareness about autism and increase acceptance of the general public towards individuals with ASD

  2. Raise fund to provide support and help to the ASD community
