“Walking with adults”
As Ho often ran around, Ho’s mother was anxious to grasp Ho’s hands tightly whenever she brought him out. Since Ho’s comprehensive ability was relatively weak, the therapist thus used stickers to reward Ho whenever he finished a specific task. It could firstly help Ho to understand the concept of rewarding upon task completion, and then moved on to practise more difficult tasks. Ho can now understand and follow the therapist’s verbal instructions, walk hand in hand with adults, and can even walk along independently with adults for a while without holding hands.
“I want!”
“Controlling emotions”
Jacob was emotional when he first started receiving the treatment. Whenever his needs were not satisfied, he would lose his temper, scream around and cry. Therefore, our therapist focused on training Jacob’s emotional control and word expression. After several practices, Jacob can stay calm even when his requests are rejected by adults, and has learnt to communicate with short sentences. He has been able to engage in the training as well.
