Morgan Stanley Volunteers Renovate Aoi Pui School Ahead Of Open Week 2015-07-23

Benefiting from the "Giving Back" core value of Morgan Stanley, a leading global financial services firm, Aoi Pui School, the first primary school inHong Kong for moderate to high functioning students with autism, is set to showcase its renovated campus in an Open Week, August 17 - 21, 2015.

As part of its Global Volunteer Month campaign, Morgan Stanley has arranged for 89 summer interns to give their time to rejuvenating the school's premises today by painting and decorating the corridors, staircases, classrooms and function rooms. The half-day program also includes engagement with Aoi Pui School students such as bread making, art jamming and producing decoupage bags for the school's Fun Fair to be held at the end of the year. Each year, Morgan Stanley interns are encouraged to participate in a group volunteering activity to experience first-hand the firm's commitment to Giving Back.

"Giving Back is one of Morgan Stanley's four core values and our employees take it seriously. We are thrilled to be able to help Aoi Pui School in its mission to support students with autism via this renovation and student engagement program.  At Morgan Stanley, we are focused on strengthening the communities where we live and work and also helping local charities where they need it the most," said Caroline Wong, Head of Community Affairs in Asia Pacific at Morgan Stanley.

The school offers both the national curriculum and customized autism-specific curriculum.  It adopts the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) model, a scientifically proven approach that enables students with ASD to achieve their best possible potential.  Aoi Pui School's campus is a 4-storey block with 6 classrooms, a cookery room, a boutique room, a computer room, a multipurpose hall, a covered playground, an entertainment room, and a laundry room. The Morgan Stanley team gave the school a total makeover: they retouched the classrooms with new decorations, repainted the staircases and planted trees and flowers to give the school a breath of fresh air.

"The Aoi Pui School staff, students and parents are so excited about the new look of the school and grateful for Morgan Stanley's dedication and passion for improving the well-being of students with autism. In Hong Kong, there is an increasing number of students diagnosed with autism but many of them are deprived of suitable schooling due to low public awareness and limited resources from the government. Through this meaningful activity, we hope to provide an opportunity for students to realize their unique potential and to enhance the quality of our learning environment. Also, we are all ready to open up our school for the public," says Kathleen Man, Principal of Aoi Pui School.
