Food is an essential part of everyone’s life. We arranged a visit to Tao Heung Museum of Food Culture to let our beneficiaries to learn about Hong Kong’s food culture and history. The museum showcased different cooking tools, classic food stalls and hawker stalls, so we could understand more about the evolution of Hong Kong’s food culture. Children could also act as a chef to prepare delicious foods in different simulated food stalls.
In addition, the museum displayed a traditional Chinese style wedding backdrop, antique tableware and also played nostalgic music, it seemed that we had returned to our grandparents’ era. Nowadays, there is no such kind of decoration in common Chinese restaurants, and it has become a collective memory of Hong Kong people. The children learnt a lot from this visit and the parents recalled their childhood memories.
